Harvest 2012 update - Thursday, October 18th by Greg Freeman, Winemaker
A fingernail moon hangs over the winery tonight. Lone Oak chardonnay is streaming in slowly but surely. It is being handpicked and so half ton bins are what we will work with today. 70 tons of chardonnay from Lone Oak Block C, clone 76.
Here, the sun is going down on 19 tons of Lone Oak chardonnay, relaxing on the crush pad next to their press, getting ready for the pressure…must be depressing…how oppressive…impressed yet?…I’ll put out a press release…OK, that’s enough.
In soccer news, USA has beaten Guatemala in World Cup qualifying, so that is very good. Conversations around the cellar often revolve around soccer between pressings and mythical dreams of a break. More Harvest talk tomorrow. Sweet Pinot Dreams
